Compassion and Backpackers United
Written by Russell Beggs
I am so excited this week by the announcement of United Hostels [ read more here ].  Backpackers United have partnered with Compassion so that hostels can easily and effectively sponsor children currently living in poverty. I remember growing up seeing all the ads on TV about kids living in poverty and, to be perfectly honest, though saddened I was mostly unaffected by it having seen it all my life.  What got me personally about Compassion was seeing how the lives of the children were transformed and how much more can be achieved when we put God and Christ first in our lives, sacrificing of ourselves to give others an opportunity. I cannot wait to see the impact this program has on lives. Travel the world // Change the world.

American Idol Gives Back - Shout to the Lord! by Darlene Zchech
Written by Russell Beggs
It is almost unbelievable that a song humbly written over a decade ago would be sung by some of the most talented young singers in America to an audience of 50 million and continue to impact lives so remarkably... almost unbelievable, but that's what happened just last week. Amazing. I am stunned and in awe.

Down Under!
Written by Petra Potse
Once I've been in Boliva, traveling got me! So I decided to go to Australia for at least 7 months. Started off in January in Sydney and traveled all the way to WA, Perth, where I am right now. Trying to find a job for a few weeks! But during my traveling for so far I had great experiences. Seen a lot of Oz, nature and cities. Followed the route; Sydney, Blue Mountains, Canberra, Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, The Grampians, Adelaide. From Adelaide I started traveling with two other girls, unfortunately both nog Christian, but that's ok. We're having a great time together and traveled all the way up to Coober Pedy, just so we could say that we've been in the opal capital! After that we  visited Flinders Ranges and then made our way through the Nullarbor to WA. Went along the coast to Esperance, Albany, Parry's Beach, Augusta, Margaret River and finally arriving in Perth a week later than we've planned. But we're here! Now trying to find a job, which is not very easy.. so if you have any tips&tricks... please don't hesitate to forward them! Okay, for sofar my blog. See ya!

Bolivia
Written by Petra Potse
3 weeks Boliva Last summer I went for three weeks doing charitywork to Bolivia with World Servants. With a group of 34 people we've built a dormitory for children who had to stay intern to go to school. It was an amazing experience, making lives better for these people. You could see the eyes of the children twinkle as you played with them, singing songs together or drawing pictures. That really did something with me! In three weeks we were able to build up a quite strong band with the people living there,... trying to speak spanish! They were so happy to have us there, and that made it even more difficult to leave after three weeks . I have to say it was a crying goodbye for everybody! Tend to go there again in a few years and look how they improved their possibilities. Also another reason is to visit my sponsorchild (through Compassion!) again who lives in Santa Cruz! I was so happy to meet her after two years of writing letters. And I've promised her I will come back within 7 years and then stay longer. And then we had to fly back to Holland... after three beautiful weeks there. But it was nice to come back home ofcourse.
